![]() Then I used it (with a piece of heavy steel cable) to pull some big pieces of metal around, starting to get them ready to go to the scrappers (remnants of a burned-out shop). The thing is a bit dirty because I played with it for a little while (in between rain showers) here, bulldozing over some vines and brush, filling a low spot with dirt from a high spot next to it (BIG holes dug by a medium-sized dog from my tracks), I cleared a swath about 180 feet long by about 20 feet wide - and (laugh) then had to use a rake to pull all the vines and weeds out of the tracks! My wife got quite a chuckle when she saw me come back into our yard - she said that it was funny, seeing the vines and stuff dragging behind it! (Next on my list is to do a thorough cleaning and lubing. Yeah, I know it's not "officially" an antique, but it IS rather unusual (the only time I've seen them outside of the internet was at Zolfo Springs and the Florida Flywheelers site), and I'm kind of proud of it. I've already dealt with one minor aggravation in our yard that I couldn't deal with before because of health - it really DOES make doing things possible. And all the implements.I took a few pictures of my "new toy" - I picked up a used Struck Magnatrac yesterday. I am clearing out equipment that I dont use anymore and making great deals.ĭo you still have the magnatrac? if so I am interested in it.Please contact me. It's on a trailer with two front blades and several other ground engaging tools. And with a skid steer once you get where you want you can zip around on flat ground AND use the hydraulic aux. I do a lot of hilly type work-some so steep you can hardly walk them-driving a skid steer with tracks in rverse up a hill feels and is safer, and with the weight over the back of the machine going backward you gain much more traction. Go to You can but right from the manufacturer. I have tracks on mine that are a little over 16" wide comparable to a real dozer. Skid steers are generally weight-distributed 60-40 or 70-30 biased to the rear. For example my skid steer manual say the "Engine Gradeability (intermittent duty)" is 35 degrees.Īs far as using hydraulic equipment, consider getting a skid steer loader and installing over-the-tire tracks for about $1,200. Some equipment are not made for running on a gradient for long periods of time as the engine oil sump may not pick up oil. And it's going to be heavier for more traction. Even if it's half of that for a used one at $7000 you could buy a REAL dozer that's maybe 20 years old but will hold up fine. The last I think I saw a new one, or something like it for sale was about $14,000 plus shipping. ![]() I live in the Santa Cruz mountains and want a really small crawler to haul stuff up hillsides use hydraulic equip.Īnybody got experience with them on steep hills ?. It's on a trailer but I haven't run it in about a year. Ĭorn, LOL how many times are you going ask about it. Hi,rick how much would you sell your magnatrac for ?. Hi,how much would you sell it for because i would like to have one. Time to recycle it into something I will use more often! This crawler has been sitting on its trailer for about 2 years now. I wish I had invested in oil stocks when that post was new! did you and this guy go to the same school? Or, did Prez. You might also have better success selling it in the CLASSIFIEDS section than on the board itself. Rick, considering the original post was nearly EIGHT years ago, don't hold your breath waiting for a reply. It has been sitting for awhile and needs some attention. for sale with front and rear hydraulics, two front blades, and several rear implements. I have it on for sale because I need a bigger tractor with robber tires for ease of transportation to pull a disc, mower etc. The machine is very realizable and strong. its a great machine for people that need to clean horse stables and get into tight places. I own a 98 magnatrac junior with about 20 hours of use. I'll be glad to write more if you're still looking. It seems to be just what I needed for moving dirt in tight places. I bought a used Junior recently, made some repairs, and have used it just a few hours. If you don't like the compacts, Ingersoll Rand makes a little contractor's rubber tired loader/hoe for about the same price as the Magnatrac and it is a lot more machine. The compact tractor was not only cheaper, but was clearly better in every regard even though only half the size. I was impressed until I tried a little bitty old beat up orange 4wd compact tractor with a loader. Some years ago I tried a well set up Dalco 3000, which at that time was a little more capable than their large Magnatrac. Any body own or used one recently? Thanks,Dave Anybody out there have experience with a magnatrac crawler? I am considering the magnatrac junior.
